The position would involve teaching Physical Education through the primary school. The Physical Education classes are taught in French and have to comply with the French National Curriculum.
As an international school, we will consider applications from candidates who:
Plan for and provide primary-level classroom instruction in Physical Education in accordance with the French Curriculum. Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to assess students’ academic progress on a regular basis.
Develop curriculum, instructional materials, assessment tools, and lesson plans according to the needs and interests of students, fulfilling the criteria of the French curriculum and U.S. policies.
Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students, creating a learning environment to achieve academic focus and success.
Evaluate students’ academic performance, behavior, social development, and physical health and maintain accurate and complete student records.
Participate in appropriate in-service programs or other professional development, parent-teacher conferences, and faculty meetings as required or requested. Perform all administrative and teaching duties in a primarily French-language environment.
Participates in parent-teacher conferences as required or requested.
Participates in curriculum and other developmental.
Attends teachers’ meetings.
Participates in appropriate in-service programs or other professional development.
Evaluates student performance, maintains records for individual students, and prepares report cards each trimester.
Acts as liaison between students, parents, and school staff as regards the Secondary school Physical Education program.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Degree Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred) in Physical Education, Athletic Administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Certification:
Strong preference for a Professeur certifié(e) or agrégé(e) from the French Ministry of Education or an equivalent teaching certification from a francophone country.
US State Teaching Certificates and License (or the ability to obtain one) is also acceptable.
Teaching Experience: Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in Physical Education or related fields for relevant age groups.
Additional Considerations:
Candidates with a strong academic and professional background, such as degrees in sports sciences, kinesiology, or athletic training, combined with substantial teaching experience in physical education, will also be considered. Equivalent education and experience may substitute for minimum qualifications, except where legal requirements apply (e.g., certification, licensure, visa).
