The position would involve teaching Sciences de la Vie et de la Terre (SVT) / Biology through the senior school (Collège and Lycée). The Sciences de la Vie et de la Terre Classes are taught in French and must comply with the French National Curriculum.
As an international school, we will consider applications from candidates who:
Plan for and provide secondary-level classroom instruction in Sciences de la Vie et de la Terre / Biology in accordance with the French Curriculum and the IB curriculum.
Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to assess students’ academic progress regularly.
Develop curriculum, instructional materials, assessment tools, and lesson plans according to the needs and interests of students, fulfilling the criteria of the French curriculum and IB curricula.
Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students, creating a learning environment to achieve academic focus and success.
Select books and instructional aids appropriate to the interests and maturity level of students.
Evaluate students’ academic performance, behavior, social development, and physical health and maintain accurate and complete student records.
Provide remedial programs for students who have not achieved language competency commensurate with their potential. Meet with department colleagues to evaluate student placement test results, monitor and assess student performance throughout the year to determine each student's current placement level, and discuss other departmental concerns.
Participate in appropriate in-service programs or other professional development, parent-teacher conferences, and faculty meetings as required or requested. Perform all administrative and teaching duties in a bilingual environment.
Participates in parent-teacher conferences as required or requested and attends teachers’ meetings.
Participates in curriculum and other developmental meetings.
Participates in appropriate in-service programs or other professional development.
Evaluate student performance, maintain records for individual students, and prepare report cards each trimester.
Acts as liaison between students, parents, and school staff regarding the Secondary school Math program.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred) in Sciences et Vie de la Terre / Biology or a related field.
Certification: Science et Vie de la terre certification is strongly preferred (certifié(e) or agrégé(e) from the French Ministry of Education or an equivalent teaching certification from a francophone country). Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience. For those teaching in the IB track, familiarity with the IB Biology curriculum HL and SL is essential, and a recent training certificate from an IB organization or partner in Biology is highly preferred. Candidates with a strong academic background, such as a university degree in mathematics, applied mathematics, or related fields, and solid teaching experience in this subject area will also be considered.
Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience in Sciences et Vie de la Terre (SVT) or Biology is required.
