The French Section of Taipei European School is looking for a certified candidate for an English Foreign language, Culture, and Literature teacher available on August 1, 2024. This position may become vacant. The candidate must have solid experience in high school teaching, particularly in the elective course "foreign languages, literatures and cultures-English"(LLCE), as well as a thorough knowledge of American literature and culture. More significantly, candidates with experience teaching English literature in OIB or, more recently, in the American section of BFI will be preferred. The desirable candidate will also have a university humanities and social studies background to possibly teach “connaissance du monde” (global studies Research Seminar). 

The person will be responsible for carrying out the position tasks and activities within the framework of the programs defined by the French Ministry of Education and implemented in the school project. Caring and having high expectations towards self, the candidate must also be caring and demanding towards students while considering the diversity and the individual needs. The school's pedagogy values project-based teaching (disciplinary or cross-disciplinary), and differentiation is at the heart of our practices. The ideal candidate is expected to be proficient in using technology in the classroom, in particular, mastering Google Education, and MS Office. The candidate is expected to be aware of the importance of teamwork to facilitate the coherence and harmonisation of classroom practices. Collaboration is considered an essential factor in the teacher's professional development and student’s success. The ideal candidate will coach and monitor several students as an advisory teacher. The ideal candidate will establish positive professional relationships and promote a relationship based on listening and trust with parents.

Qualifications:

TES recruits well-qualified, experienced career professionals. The candidate needs to be a qualified teacher who is a fluent French speaker and an excellent communicator. The candidate should hold any of the diplomas/certifications below:

  • A Master of Education Degree from a recognised University.

  • A Degree from a recognised University plus either a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE), CAPES, or equivalent.

A Bachelor of Education Degree from a recognised University will be considered with relevant experience or/ holding a State Board of Education Certification (CAPES, etc.). Outstanding teachers from other backgrounds will be considered if the applicant is willing to learn and work with the TES system and ethos.
Qualifications such as TESOL, DELTA, TESOL, DELF or other Language Teaching are a plus.

Relevant experience:

  • Experience working in international schools (integrated curriculum - French, British, German, American, Canadian) would be a significant advantage.

  • Familiarity with multicultural settings.
